My paintings explore the limits and
inadequacy of memory. Both paintings and memory are malleable. The
process of painting I employ involves navigating a composition in
constant flux. While I am creating a painting I allow the forms to
fall apart before I reconstruct them several times over before a
final end point is determined. Memories are similar in the sense
that, over time, smaller details fade away and disappear, while other
details may remain assertive and vivid. In my most recent works there
is a sharp juxtaposition between subject matter and background in
terms of brushwork and colour. The illusive nature of the image is
accentuated though it's apparent disintegration and resolution.
